On December 5, 2024, our 'Women and Society' course was enriched by the valuable participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bezar Eylem Ekinci, a distinguished guest lecturer from Eastern Mediterranean University. During her visit to our university, Dr. Ekinci conducted an in-depth module exploring the relationship between law and gender. In her lecture, she linked gender equality to fundamental principles of law, emphasizing the importance of universal concepts such as the prohibition of discrimination and human dignity. Dr. Ekinci examined the role of law in achieving gender equality through both theoretical frameworks and practical examples, shedding light on the impact of legal deficiencies on women with concrete illustrations. At the end of the session, students and faculty members expressed their gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekinci for her invaluable contributions. The importance of such meaningful events in raising awareness about sensitive topics like gender equality was underlined.
