Final International University’s Family and Women’s Research and Application Center hosted author Sevil Emirzade and translator Ülviye Emirzade for a special event.

Sevil Emirzade presented her latest book, “Uğurlar Olsun Kıbrıs’ın Mavi Panjurlu Eski Hikayeleri (Farewell to Cyprus’ Old Stories with Blue Shutters)", which blends documentary and theatrical storytelling to explore key moments in Cyprus’ history. The book, featuring six short plays, takes readers on a 200-year journey—culminating in the events of December 21, 1963—supported by archival documents, photographs, and a compelling narrative. It has also been translated into English, German, and Greek, making it accessible to a global audience.

During the event, Emirzade emphasized the importance of documentary-historical plays in preserving cultural heritage. Her insights were translated into English by her daughter, Ülviye E. Waelchli, who also served as the book’s English translator.

The event, attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Gemikonaklı, Prof. Dr. Nazife Aydınoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Turanlı, faculty members, and students, concluded with a certificate ceremony honoring the Emirzades’ contributions.
